Our
Mission
Statement:
Living for Christ Productions was formed in November, 2007 to develop,
produce and distribute family friendly entertainment. We
believe that film is the most powerful media in the world and many people
are affected by what they see on the big screen. Our passion is to
produce the highest quality films with a great story and fabulous talent,
while including a strong moral message but never be “preachy.” We hope to
cause audiences watching our films to closely examine their lives as they
relate to the story and potentially motivate change and effect behavior in
some way. We hope to surprise audiences and keep them guessing as the
stories unfold compelling them to guess at what the ending might be.
One of the directors
on our current project says it best:
“As
a filmmaker, my primary approach for Project 168 would begin with seeking
understanding of where and how the message in the assigned verse differs
from so-called common knowledge. What false premise, what aspect of our
flawed human nature, does it address? Therein lays the potential for
creating a piece of transformative art. Bring people into the story
through their own weaknesses and reveal a scriptural alternative through
action and discovery. Once the audience makes the story their own, they
become open to a sudden realignment, to seeing an aspect of themselves or
the world with new eyes. “ ~ Ben Dobyns
What
is the 168 Project?
This project takes place near Hollywood, California.
Filmmakers have 168 hours (one week) to produce a short film (10 minutes
or less) using a theme related to a Bible verse. These 168 hours include
filming, editing, and delivering the film. Writing the script happens the
week prior. On a Verse Assignment Night in February, filmmakers come to a
location in Hollywood and pick a rock which is part of a large cross made
of rocks. When the producers turn the rock over, they see the Bible verse
and the theme their team will need to base their movie on. Then they
begin the intensive process of getting it done. Our shooting for our 168
entry will begin on March 4th, 2008.
The
aim of “The 168 Project” is to illuminate the Word of God through film.
This project provides a training ground for filmmakers, reduces barriers
to production, and creates opportunities for pros and newcomers alike.
The teams, made up of people with diverse backgrounds, forge dynamic,
creative communities.
More
than 85 producers
from a number of states and countries around the world have registered to
enter. They will all be submitting their entries for this year’s
festival. The 168 Hour Festival is held near Burbank, California on April
11th-12th. All teams will be working with the
theme, “FREE THE CAPTIVES.”
We hope you will lift up our 168 team
in prayer over these next three months.
